Trekkingweek in Calabria

PROGRAM:

1st DAY: ARRIVAL

Arrival in Lamezia Terme and Transfer to the Agriturismo Le Fontanelle in Morano Calabro or Rifugio Fasanelli. Welcome speach by the guide and typical aperitive in the agriturismo. Dinner with local specialities.

2nd DAY: MONTI DELL‘ORSOMARSO

Breakfast in the hotel. After that we start our trekking tour along the shadows of huge characteristical trees in Monti dell’Orsomarso. Short lunch break. Our goal for today in the top of the mountain, which offers a great 360° view to all Pollino mountains, to the river Lao and until the coast. The local guide tell you about interesting details of the vegetation of the mountains of Pollino and is ready to answer all your questions. Break for relaxation on the top of the mountain. Way back to the Agriturismo. Dinner.

3rd DAY: COLLE DELL’IMPISO, COLLE GAUDOLINO, MONTE POLLINO

Breakfast in the hotel. Trekking along the most famous path in the National Park. The first part of our trekking tour brings us through a unique forest. As soon as we arrive in Colle Gaudolino, we do a short lunch break. From here we continue up to the top of the mountain. From here we enjoy a beautiful view before we start our way back. Typical dinner with local products in the hotel.

4th DAY: MONTE SELLARO, SANTUARIO MADONNA DELLE ARMI, CERCHIARA DI CALABRIA

Breakfast in the hotel. The excursion of today, brings us to one of the most beautiful panoramic points, overlooking the centre of Cerchiara and the valley of Raganello. Visit the Santuario, which has been built by basilianian monchs in 1400. The guide will tell you about the interesting story of the Santuario. Lunch break. From the Santuario Madonna delle Armi we continue along the antique street “Via di Pellegrinaggio”. Panoramic view to the gulf of Sibari. Short break and way back. Departure from the Hotel in Monte Pollino, transfer to the Agriturismo Fiorella in Camigliatello in Sila. Dinner.

5th DAY: CULTURAL EXCURSION TO COSENZA AND WINERY LENTO

Breakfast in the hotel. Today we visit the north of Calabria, the city of the poetries and thinkers: Cosenza. The city offers many small, characteristical streets where you can also find the famous Cafè Renzitelli. Free time for shopping on the shopping street “Corso Mazzini”. Individual lunch in the centre of Cosenza. We meet in the afternoon and have a transfer to the winery Lento. Here you will taste delicious housemade wine and local products. Transfer back to the hotel and dinner.

6th DAY: TREKKING TOUR IN COLLI PERILLI & CROCE DEI DUE LAGHI

Breakfast in the hotel. Trekking tour to the top of the mountains, from where we have a 360° panoramic view. From here we can see Lago Arvo, the Monte Botte Donato, Monte Nero, Monte Cocuzzo, Il Pollino and many other top points of the mountains of Sila. Lunch break. Together we have a walk in the small village Lorica, where we have a tasting of biological jam, made out of wood berries. Way back to the hotel and dinner.

7th DAY: EXCURSION TO MONTE NERO

Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to the Località Cagno on 1360m over the sea. From here we trek up to the highest point of Monte Nero on 1880m. Here we stop for a short lunch break and we enjoy the wonderful view to Lago Ampollino, San Giovanni in Fiori and to the ionic sea. The second panoramic point is on 1181m. The local guide is at your disposal to answer any questions regarding the territory.  On our way back, we stop in a little farm house for a tasting of different meals with local mushrooms. The trekking path on Monte Nero is one of the most beautiful panoramic ways of Altopiano Silano and therefore a wonderful closing of a week full of experiences. Way back and dinner in the hotel.

8th DAY: DEPARTURE

Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer from the hotel to the airport of Lamezia Terme. Greeting of the guide and flight back home.
